Title: Airplane II: The Sequel
Rating: Four Spotlights
Movie Wrapped Up:
The Mayflower I is taking her maiden voyage, and it's doomed to trouble... it may take the hero of the original Airplane movie, Stryder, to save the day... but he's presumed crazy!
Mad Take:
That was not one of my best summaries, but this was a serious comedy, so the plot's not as important. Compared to the first movie, however, the story was better-done. The comedy was good, though not as good as the first movie. It's like they traded one for the other, though both was good. This movie still wasn't enough for a five-Spotlight, however.
All in all, this was a pretty good movie.

Real Steel
Title: Real Steel
Rating: Four and a Half Spotlights
Movie Wrapped Up:
In the future, tech has gone up, but especially in the boxer's ring. Now robots do the boxing with humans' control.
Charlie is a washed-out boxer. He is in serious money trouble. When he buys his son, Max, for the summer, he gets more than he bargains for. Max fixes up an old sparring robot named Atom from the junkyard, and it turns out that Atom can throw a punch.
While figuring out the relationship with his son, Charlie's going to have to train Atom for the big fights...
Mad Take:
Okay, my summary wasn't the best. But to the actual movie. It was awesome! The story was well-done, the tech was awesome, and the fights were pretty cool. The big point was the ending. It was extremely well-done, earning a half-Spotlight, and I'm still pumped from it. I was cheering Atom on with the others. The story could use a little tweaking, but it was still a very good movie.
This was a very good movie. Get it... it's awesome!!!
...
Yeah, did I say I was pumped up from the ending? Lol...

Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Title: Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Rating: Four Spotlights
Movie Wrapped Up:
Once, two spies got married. But neither of them knew that their spouse was a spy. Six or five years later (depending on who you ask), they messed up the others' mission (which was the same mission). Now they are aiming for each others' heads... and their marriage is going to blow anyway!
Mad Take:
Sorry for my lame summary. The story was pretty good overall. The story was only averagely done in the beginning, but it got better. There were only some chuckle moments, so don't take this as a comedy. But the tech element was cool. The action scenes were cool too (though too loud in some places!). I didn't really care for the ending--there was an unanswered question.
Despite all that, this was a pretty good movie overall, but not a fave of mine.

Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across The 2nd Dimension
Title: Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across The 2nd Dimension
Rating: Four and a Half Spotlights
Movie Wrapped Up:
When Agent P's craft sends Phineas and Ferb to Dr. Doffenshmirtz's place. Without knowing that Doc D is evil, the twins help him to make a "Otherdimensionator" (a Dimension Portal). They all end up going through to another Dimension, where a really evil and smart Dr. Doof has taken over, and turned that Dimension's Perry into an evil Platyborg! Then, to saves his friends, Perry reveals his secret-agent identity.
But more trouble's going to follow...
Mad Take:
A very good movie! The story was well-done, could use a little tweaking (very little, but there's some minor glitches), but the movie was a comedy as well, so that drops the needed points for the plot. The action was good, comedy was funny, and good all around.
But I didn't really care for the ending... did they really have to wipe their memories? Aw man! Yeah, they don't have to change the TV series (which is pretty good too!), but I didn't care for it all the same.
Anyway, this is still a very good movie! Get it! It's awesome! Brace yourself for the ending, however... I think it was the worst part of the movie (except for the very last few minutes, but the memory-wiping stinks!).

Major League 2
Title: Major League 2
Rating: Three Spotlights
Movie Wrapped Up:
It's another season, and the baseball team "the Cleveland Indians" are aiming for the World Series! But things have changed, mainly due to new popularity, and the team's badly off their beat.
And when Miss Rich Lady gets back in power, the team is going to have to shape up...
Mad Take:
They don't even try! This movie was average, mostly boring material during the first half. True, there were chuckle moments, but the story wasn't great, and everyone was too different. I didn't care for the new Joey at all! And he was like it during most of the movie! YEESH!
Things did start getting better near the end, however. When team started being themselves again, the movie got better. But the ending, while partly exciting, didn't make it up to the first movie's big bang. But at least the second half was better!
(And they were clever in mixing in the romance element this round. :) )
This movie was only okay.

The Matrix
Title: The Matrix
Rating: One and a Half Spaceship
I'm completely skipping the summary, and going right to the review. I totally despise this movie! Hate it, hate it, hate it!!! The story totally freaked me out. The only reasons for the half-spaceship is the special effects... which were too good in some cases..., and the excellently-done story. But I hated the end!!! I so wanted it over, but they had to set it up as a triology (sp?)! And I can't quite get the Oracle and her "not being the one" thing...
This is my least favorite movie ever! At least up to this point.

One For The Money; Avatar
I saw these two movies really close to each other, so I'm just putting both reviews on. I'll skip the Movie Wrapped Ups, and just do the Mad Takes.
One For The Money
Rating: Four Spotlights
This was actually a pretty good movie. I went in with no idea what the movie was about--except for something about an exploding car--and had a good time. The story was actually pretty well-done, though there were some parts where I was confused. (The Main Character is like a good-guy bounty hunter, by the way, for those who aren't sure). It had more action than I expected.
This was a pretty good movie.

This was a re-watch for me. I saw it in 3D in the theaters, and now I saw that special Collector's Edition (the one with 16 extra minutes).
The story was very well-done, except for a few glitches. One centers around Jake popping in and out of his Avatar. I mean, he did it in daylight sometimes! Shouldn't the Na'Vi have noticed? Why did he get away with it? That fact did cause a problem for Jake later on, so the creators did know about it (or at least in that scene), but why wasn't that problem ever explained? Yeesh!
But the movie was very good otherwise. The story was very good. The special effects were awesome (even not in 3D!). And it had a good dose of action in it to boot! Some of the characters could have been done a little better (like Jake's rival in the clan), but they were pretty good characters otherwise.
This is a top movie; no wonder it's so famous!
